-- ANTON PIEETE BIO
As a key member of Amsterdam’s New School generation, Anton Pieete is currently storming dancefloors with his captivating take on contemporary techno. Using a profound mastery of powerful and in your face grooves, Pieete appeal to an ever growing international crowd. Pieete’s grandfather – of all people – was the one who stirred up his grandson’s initial urge to make electronic music, by passing on his old synthesizer in 1997. From there on, Pieete was determined to produce tracks of his own. A few years later, he started dj-ing, and as soon as possible started a three year education in audio design. Before he had gotten his degree, Pieete was already bringing out music that was highly acclaimed by the worldwide techno community.
After finishing school, Pieete could fully focus on his productions. At the time he also started to work together on a successful side project called District One (together with Bart Skils), releasing some massive EP’s on 100 % Pure and performing live on some of Holland’s biggest stages. But Anton’s first big break came last year, when ‘Players’ on Intacto became one of the summer’s biggest clubhits. Your typical break-glass-in-case-of-emergency record, Players was rated by dj’s around the globe and ended up topping all the essential charts.
Applying the minimalistic philosophy of less is more to a heavier, ballsier sound, Pieete is finding the next step in current techno. His straight forward style seems to be exactly what people are longing for after years of clicking and clocking. To further propagate this hybrid and cutting edge sound, Pieete has recently started Dinner Records with his friends and colleague-producers Boy Constrictor and Jeroen Liebregts. After three well received releases, it’s safe to state their musical vision proves a fruitful one. So as most members of Amsterdam’s New School generation are being hailed as the bringers of freshness in techno, Pieete is hailed accordingly.
His live sets make him even more likeable, as he is notorious for cooking floors where ever he roams. So keep your eyes out for this young and promising Dutchman, because he might just be well on his way to international breakthrough.
